The tartar steppe.
editorial design
Buzzati's The TartarSteppe is a book that can be perceived as monotonous, repetitive and disappointing. So is the protagonist’s life. This became the concept for the book: deceived expectations and the idea that you have to make an effort in order to achieve something. The cover of the book is blank and minimalistic but because it is taken to an extreme, it looks unusual and intriguing. The binding is French binding with uncut pages. It reinforces the idea of deceived expectations: you expect to find text when you open a book but in this book all you see is blank pages.
